Ahmad Misron Yusof – Vistage Chair Profile

AHMAD MISRON YUSOF enjoys being a “leader of leaders”, the unique role sometimes ascribed to Vistage Chairs. His more than 35 years work experience in power utility operations, manufacturing and management consulting have “armed” him for that unique role.

After graduating from Brighton Polytechnic, UK, he started his career with the then National Electricity Board (NEB) in 1967. For the next 20 years, he served in various functions including Education and Training, Management Services and Power Distribution.

He holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Management from Birmingham University, UK and a Certificate in Public Enterprise Policy from Harvard University, USA. While in NEB, Misron was also active in the Cooperative movement and served as a Director and later Chairman of Koperatif LLN Bhd.

In 1987, Misron joined Federal Power, a leading cable manufacturing company, as its General Manager/Chief Executive. During his 11- year tenure in the company, he spearheaded its business expansion and diversification including the establishment of four subsidiaries, and increasing the annual revenue ten-fold. In recognition of his contribution to the company, he was appointed Federal Power’s first Managing Director in 1993.

After his retirement from the corporate sector in 1998, Misron founded his own management consulting company, specializing in executive coaching, leadership development and strategic planning. Misron’s association with Vistage began in 1995 when he became a member of Malaysia’s first Vistage Group. He is currently in 10th year as a Chair during which period he has helped dozens of CEOs, entrepreneurs and Key managers become more effective at work and achieve better balance in life.

Misron still maintains his active involvement in corporate business as an independent director of several public and private companies. Here he finds being a Chair, which enables him to keep up with the latest business challenges and opportunities, greatly help him discharge his Board responsibilities.

Married with two grown-up children, Misron is an avid reader and enjoys playing golf in his leisure time.
