The 4Q09 CEO Confidence Index rose 20.2 points quarter-on-quarter to settle higher at 122.9 points. The quarter-on-quarter rise of the Index is in line with better business conditions and consumer sentiments in Malaysia and the worst seems to be over. However, real recovery has not yet returned in Malaysia because the situation has not yet returned to normalcy. Read on for more details of the report in:
http://www.vistage.com.my/downloads/2009-Q4-VISTAGE-MIER-CEO-Confidence-Index.pdf
Please feel free to forward the report to your business associates who will find it meaningful and should they wish to participate in the Index survey, do refer them to Vistage Malaysia. The Edge published the results on Monday, 30 November 2009. |

CEO Tea Talks
COMING UP ON 14 JANUARY 2010!
Trends and Future Markets – Dr Pero Mecic
Sime Darby Convention Centre
Marching into 2010, as economic conditions improve, the first VISTAGE CEO TEA TALK on 14 JANUARY 2010 at SIME DARBY CONVENTION CENTRE brings you "TRENDS & FUTURE MARKETS" by DR PERO MICIC. Most of the trends, technologies and issues that will determine our future in the next ten to twenty years are already visible now. How can we see more of the future as a source of orientation, inspiration and innovation? Dr Micic's presentation will help you with the "five future glasses" to analyze their impacts, recognize threats and opportunities and - most important - potential future markets for business.
Dr Pero Micic is no stranger to Vistage Malaysia's community, having been a keynote speaker at our CEO Summit in March 2008 on "Can We Really Manage the Future?" with some very positive feedback:
- Good holistic view that combines active thinking, challenges on the future.
- Provided a very comprehensive framework and methodology for future management.
- Eltville model is a good model/tool for future management. Very practical, well presented and explained.
In celebrating Vistage Malaysia's 15 years of existence, 14 January 2010 will also see the launch of VISTAGE MALAYSIA'S 15TH ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATIVE BOOK titled "CHANGING and GROWING" (1994-2009). 21 members' inspirational growth stories highlighting Vistage's positive impact will be featured in a chapter, CEO Experience. Managing the “New Normal” of Tomorrow – Richard Carr
The Saujana, Kuala Lumpur

Richard Carr engaging the audience |
Vistage Malaysia hosted the second CEO Tea Talk on 2 November 2009 at The Saujana, Kuala Lumpur. The topic was “Managing the “New Normal” of Tomorrow by Richard Carr, Executive Vice President and Senior Advisor, Vistage International Inc.
New Normal has been much talked about as organizations transition from the global financial crisis. With much uncertainty that lies ahead, it will not look like the normal of recent years. It is the era of the New Normal where, for organizations to succeed, they must focus on what has changed and what remains.
Richard Carr prompted the key questions to business leaders on what the new normal are for them, what they will do to adjust and how would one know if one is on the right track. He went on to share what Vistage was doing to address the “New Normal”. Some of the core initiatives undertaken were
- investing in core competence – Groups and Chairs
- increasing global reach – opening China in 2009 and addressing need for connectivity
- investing in content: www.vistageknowledgecenter.com
- leveraging technology: www.bizmore.com
He concluded by drawing attention to changes in the “New Normal”: 12 changes to traditional business and how to manage them. The tea talk was well received with about 100 participants attending.
